About Dr. Jonah Schrag

Dr. Jonah Schrag is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, child and adult psychotherapist and Marriage Counselor in Westchester County, NY.  He offers individual psychotherapy, marital therapy, play therapy and family therapy to children, adolescents, families, adults and couples in the Katonah and Westchester, New York areas.

Dr. Schrag also specializes in being a divorce mediator helping couples divorce sanely and cost effectively, minimizing the stress and pain to the divorcing couple and most importantly, their children. Within the framework of Alternative Dispute Resolution, Dr. Schrag is a trained and experienced Collaborative Divorce Coach, Child Specialist and Parenting Coordinator for all areas of Westchester County, NY.

After receiving his doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 1984 from Yeshiva University Ferkauf Graduate School, Dr. Schrag went on to receive an advanced training degree from the Pairs Foundation. He studied Mindfulness Meditation with Jon Kabat Zinn and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) with George Faller. Over the course of his 30 year career, he has lectured on a wide range of topics, including Child and Adolescent Development, Protecting and Strengthening your Marriage, Helping Children to Thrive Post Divorce, How Divorce Effects Children, The Many Faces of Depression and Anxiety, Surviving Adolescence, Attention Deficit Disorder, Management of Behavioral Problems with Children, Motivating Children, What Do You Believe; Clarifying and Transmitting Your Values.

As a child psychologist and child therapist in Westchester County, Dr. Schrag has served on the faculty of Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services where he taught courses in child therapy at their post graduate program. During his tenure with Jewish Board, Dr. Schrag coordinated their APA approved Internship Program at Hawthorne Cedar Knolls, a residential child and adolescent treatment center. At the center, he supervised psychology interns in individual psychotherapy, group therapy and play therapy. In addition to the above, Dr. Schrag served on the faculty of Albert Einstein College of Medicine and was Co-Director of Clinical Services for Behavioral Healthcare Alliance.

Dr. Schrag was featured in The New York Times for a skill-building course he co-taught to couples (see articles and publications). The course called PAIRS was designed to promote healthy marriages by teaching couples communication skills and concrete techniques to deepen intimacy and resolve conflict.

Dr. Schrag has appeared twice on The CBS News, Early Show, and was a Consulting Psychologist on the television program, “The Growing Child”. He lives in Connecticut with his wife and four children, where he founded, and directed, a community theater troupe, known as “The Dor Vador Players”. Currently, he is in full-time private practice in the Hamlet of Katonah, New York, centrally located in Northern Westchester County and an easy drive from Mt.
